Tara Lemmey, tech entrepreneur and Chief Executive of Net Power & Light, on the three ages of computing:

“We went through three phases of computing:

  1. The Computational Era which was from the 70s to the 90s. It was all about faster.
  2. The Information Age which happened in the 90s and sort of took us through to 2010. That was all about the web, search and text.
  3. We are moving into the Experience Age which is all about sight and sound and connectedness and live and changing the way we are together.”

From a BBC radio programme What If… We Could All Have the World’s Best Education? about the growth of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).
