Banning general content page templates

An elegant solution for governing exponential growth of junk content.

My favourite silde and “take away” from London Content Strategy’s Confab Fringe Meetup.

Neil Williams on how the GDS ruthlessly aligns content to user goals and information needs by creating and enforcing a core of purposefully designed templates and banning general content page templates.

A very elegant solution for publishing and managing content, attempting to stem the exponential growth of junk content (pollution) whilst also providing a framework to challenge the demands (and requirements) of internal stakeholders.

I really hope that GOV.UK wins the digital category in the Design Museum’s Designs of the Year 2013 awards!

Update 23 iv 13: GDS Team won! Awesome.
